The draw for the CECAFA Dar Port Kagame Cup 2024 took place on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with Gor Mahia, champions of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League, placed in the challenging Group B.
They will face Al Hilal (Sudan), Red Arrows (Zambia), and Djibouti Telecom FC.
The tournament will be held from July 9th to 21st at the Azam Complex in Chamazi and KMC Stadium in Kinondoni.
Baraka Kizuguto, CECAFA Development Director, led the draw at the Azam studio, highlighting the tournament’s competitiveness as teams prepare for the CAF competitions starting in August.
Group A includes Coastal Union FC (Tanzania), Al Wadi FC (Sudan), JKU SC (Zanzibar), and Dekedaha FC (Somalia).
Group C, known for its toughness, features former champions SC Villa (Uganda), APR FC (Rwanda), Singida Black Stars FC (Tanzania), and Al Merriekh Bentiu (South Sudan).
In the 2021 edition of the tournament in Dar es Salaam, Uganda’s Express FC won 1-0 against Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets FC.
