Kitara denied by resilient Ndejje University

Ndejje University struck late to hold table leaders Kitara FC to a 2-2 draw in a thrilling encounter played at Ndejje’s Arena of Visions.

The University side had to rally from behind on two occasions to snatch a crucial point off Sam Simbwa’s men.

Kitara took an early lead through Moses Seruyidde’s brilliant shot from outside the box in the third minute.

Norman Ndyamuhaki equalized for Ndejje in the 35th minute but the tie short-lived for only two minutes as Edson Agondeze restored Kitara’s lead with a volley.

The goal was Agondeze’s 9th goal of the season and ensured a Halftime lead for the visitors.

Ndejje fought back and ultimately got the equalizer in the last minute of normal time through James Brian Obedi who flawlessly finished off a ball from Charles Carlos Mbaziira.

Kitara remain as one of the poor travelers as far as the promotion fight is concerned having won only twice away from Hoima, (against NEC FC and Lugazi).

They remained top of the table despite the draw with 47 points, three clear of second and third placed Mbarara City and NEC FC.

NEC beat Kaaro Karungi 3-1 while Mbarara City lost 2-0 against Kyetume at Nakisunga.

Simbwa’s men will host Mbarara City in their next game while Ndejje will visit fellow relegation strugglers and neighbors Luweero United.
