KOBs Take Control: Win Over Mongers in Playoffs QF First Leg

During the recent round of the Nile Special Rugby Championship regular season, KOBs clashed with Mongers in an intense battle hosted in Entebbe.

Despite facing numerous challenges throughout the match, KOBs emerged triumphant with a hard-fought 21-16 victory, sealing the win in the closing moments of the game.

In an intriguing turn of events, the two teams met again in the Championship Playoffs quarterfinals, this time with Mongers hosting the first leg.

Once again, KOBs showcased their resilience and determination, securing a narrow 17-13 victory.Mirroring their performance in the regular season encounter, KOBs displayed their dominance early in the match.

Trevor Maina’s try just four minutes into the game set the tone for KOBs’ performance. Despite Josiah Ssempeke missing the conversion, he successfully converted three penalties, allowing KOBs to hold a commanding 14-03 lead at halftime.

While Mongers rallied in the second half, scoring their only try through Ebber Aturinde, they struggled with conversion opportunities. KOBs, on the other hand, missed two penalty kicks that could have further extended their lead.

Despite their efforts, Mongers fell short, and KOBs emerged victorious with a 17-13 win.

The quarterfinal clash between Rhinos and Pirates also delivered a thrilling encounter, with Pirates securing a narrow 10-07 victory over Rhinos, replicating their success from the regular season.
