“DR Congo President Commends CAF President Motsepe for Stellar AFCON; Hosts CAF General Secretary in Kinshasa”

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) General Secretary, Véron Mosengo-Omba, recently had the privilege of meeting with the Head of State of the Democratic Republic of Congo, HE Felix Tshisekedi, in Kinshasa.

This visit was not only a courtesy call but also a testament to the strong bond between CAF and the esteemed President.

During their meeting, President Tshisekedi took the opportunity to extend his heartfelt congratulations to CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, and the entire CAF Leadership for orchestrating the most successful TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this year.

It was a resounding success that showcased the true spirit of African football.

Mosengo-Omba expressed his gratitude to President Tshisekedi for his warm reception.

They engaged in fruitful discussions on various matters, including the noteworthy progress made in bringing stability to the Congolese Football Federation.

They also delved into other crucial football development initiatives in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

President Tshisekedi, being an ardent football supporter himself, lauded the exceptional leadership of Dr Patrice Motsepe and commended the entire CAF Leadership for their remarkable achievement in hosting the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

He reiterated his commitment to work closely with football authorities to promote the development of the sport, not just within the Congo but also across the African continent.

Notably, CAF recently launched a groundbreaking CAF D License Coaching Programme for Women’s Football in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This program, conducted in collaboration with the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA), aims to invigorate women’s football in the Congo.

Aspirant coaches from Kwilu-Ngongo in Congo-Central enthusiastically participated in this initiative, which is set to empower and uplift women’s football across the nation.

Overall, the visit and discussions between Véron Mosengo-Omba and President Tshisekedi underscore the shared vision of CAF and the Democratic Republic of Congo to harness the power of football for positive development, both at the national level and throughout the African continent.
