URA FC confirm goal keeper Nafian Alionzi has left the club

 

URA FC have officially confirmed the departure of their goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi.

Alionzi served as the club captain last season departs the revenue collectors after six years.

The Uganda Cranes goalkeeper joins Ethiopian Army side Mekelakeya FC on a one year employment contract as earlier reported by this website

“Everyone at URA FC would like the thank you Mr. Safe hands for all the memories at the club including your leadership and discipline. We wish you all the Best of luck at your new home.” URA FC stated

Alionzi joined URA FC in 2016 from Arua based side Onduparaka FC.

His new side, Mekelakeya SC is the second most successful club in Ethiopian football history after St. George.

Mekelakeya SC is also know as Mechal or Defence Forces SC.

They have 11 league titles with the last one coming in 1989 and 14 Ethiopian Cups.

Mekelakeya finished 9th on the Ethiopian League log with 40 points from 30 games played.

Simon Peter Oketch, Charles Musiige and goalkeeper Robert Odongkara are other Ugandan players featuring in the BetKing Ethiopian Premier League.
