Six athletes from six sports disciplines were rewarded by the organisers of the Fortebet Real Stars awards for their astonishing performances in the month of April.
In Rugby, Pirates’ Sydney Gongodyo beat Heathens Aaron Ofoyrwoth and Kobs’ Pius Ogena to the accolade.
Gongodyo inspired Pirates to their 8-6 win over Heathens at Kyadondo in the month of April.
SC Villa forward Charles Bbaale bagged the football award following his superb displays in the month. He scored five goals in the five games he played for the current league leaders.
He beat Kawempe Muslims’ Shakira Nyinagahirwa the Women’s league MVP and NEC’s Tony Kiberu to the gong.
JT Lady Jaguars Sarah Ageno clinched the best basketball player of the month. She helped her team to four wins in the Women’s league.
Ageno beat City Oil duo of Ruai Luak and Fayed Bbale to the award.
In Netball, Christine Namulumba from Prisons Netball club was named the Real star of the month of April. She managed to score 181 goals for her side in the last four games as they won the league title.
Namulumba beat Margaret Bagala (NIC) and Shadow Nassanga (KCCA) to the accolade.
Consy Aweko was named the best Cricketer of April after her performances in the Victoria Series last month. In the same tournament she was named best bowler.
Aweko beat her assistant, Ritah Mbabazi and Kevin Awino to the award.
Juma Abiti won the golfer of April after his performance in the All Africa Junior Golf Championship as Uganda finished second.
He beat Joseph Akena and Abdul Kakeeto to the accolade.
